Indoor and Outdoor Use

Globedecor product pages list the metal planters for indoor use and for outdoor areas such as porches and patios. Iron rusts where water stands on it, so a covered location and a liner help protect the finish. Handles and raised feet on several sets make the planters easier to move between locations.

Drainage, Liners and Care

A metal planter without a drainage hole works as a cachepot. The plant stays in a plastic nursery pot with holes, set inside the planter, and water that collects at the bottom is emptied after watering. A liner keeps wet soil off the metal. Wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth and avoid leaving water on the finish.

Metal Planter FAQ

What are metal planters made of?

Metal planters are usually made of iron, steel, aluminum or galvanized steel. Many Globedecor sets are iron, including the hammered antique bronze, copper patina and white speckled sets. Each product page lists the material.

Can metal planters be used outdoors?

Yes. Globedecor product pages list the planters for indoor use and for outdoor areas such as porches and patios. Iron rusts where water sits on it, so a covered spot helps protect the finish.

Do metal planters need drainage holes?

Plants grow best when extra water can drain away. A metal planter without a drainage hole can be used as a cachepot: keep the plant in a plastic nursery pot with holes, set it inside, and empty any water that collects after watering.

Do I need a liner for a metal planter?

A plastic liner or nursery pot is recommended. It keeps wet soil off the metal, which protects the finish and makes plants easier to change.

How do I keep a metal planter from rusting?

Keep water from standing inside or under the planter. Use a liner or inner pot, avoid leaving it in a filled saucer, place it in a covered spot outdoors, and wipe it with a soft, dry cloth.

What sizes do Globedecor metal planters come in?

They range from tabletop pots about 6 inches high to floor planters 42 inches tall. Many are sold as sets of 2, 3 or 4 in graduated sizes.

What is a nesting planter set?

A nesting planter set is a group of planters in graduated sizes that fit inside one another. The pieces can be displayed together or apart and stored in the space of the largest pot.

What is the difference between a planter and a plant stand?

A planter holds the soil and plant. A plant stand raises a planter off the floor. Some Globedecor metal planters come with stands, and separate stands are in the Plant Stand collection.

Which metal planters suit large indoor plants?

Floor planters and the larger nesting sets suit large indoor plants. A planter a few inches wider than the plant’s nursery pot leaves room to set the pot inside.

Is shipping free on metal planters?

Yes. Globedecor ships every order free to the 48 contiguous states with no minimum. Orders leave Gardena, California, within 1 to 2 business days. Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and APO/FPO addresses carry additional charges.

Can I return a metal planter?

Unused items in original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. The Return & Refund Policy lists the full conditions.
