Four Ways to Fill a Wall: Clocks, Mirrors, Metal, and Wood
This collection splits into four families, and each solves a different problem. Wall clocks — from pocket-watch styles to double-sided railway clocks — add function plus a focal point. Mirrors, like the 18″ square bamboo mirror or the 36″ black-and-white wood weaved mirror, bounce light and visually enlarge a room. Metal wall art (mesh mirrors, cut-out geometric panels, scroll crosses, fleur de lis pieces up to 42″) brings pattern without weight. Carved wooden decor, like the black-and-white hand-carved arabesque floral panel, adds warmth and texture. Most rooms benefit from mixing two of the four.
How to Size Wall Decor for the Space Above Furniture
A common rule of thumb interior designers use: aim for wall decor roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture below it, hung so the center sits near eye level. Above a console, that might be one statement mirror; above a sofa, a large piece like the 42″ metal scrollwork fleur de lis panel or a grouped set, such as the black metal cut-out geometric wall decor set. If a single piece feels small, don’t center it alone — pair it with a second piece or hang it as part of a cluster.
Railway Clocks, Roman Numerals, and Timepieces That Decorate
The clocks in this collection double as wall art. The black finish metal railway clocks are double-sided — 13.75″ and 20″ versions — with a wall bracket, styled after platform clocks that had to be readable from both directions. For a bolder single face, the black metal Roman numeral clock spans 28″, and a 24″ black clock with gold accents and dial covers the modern-classic middle ground. A big clock is often the easiest answer for an awkward wall: it fills space, reads from across the room, and never needs restyling.
Mixing Metal and Wood Wall Pieces Without It Looking Busy
Metal and wood share a wall happily when the shapes rhyme. A round wood-carved mandala next to a round metal medallion works; five clashing silhouettes don’t. Keep one element consistent across the grouping — shape, color family, or theme — and vary the rest. The collection makes this easy because motifs repeat across materials: floral carving appears in wood, scrollwork appears in metal, and ship wheels appear in both wood and clock form. Lay your grouping on the floor first, photograph it, and adjust before you put a single nail in.
